The Apprentices
In 1981 a retired Stunt man turned movie producer opened a
stunt workshop. The story follows the students learning the craft. While most
of the stories are real some parts are made up to bring the story lines
together. A video camera was used to create three documentaries and one
screenplay.
Gargoyles at Bear Lake
I'm sitting with a man
who wants to be a movie producer about forty years ago. He says I want you to write a screenplay based
on the Shining.
A week later I'm saying
to him the movie is coming out in a couple of months.
He says to me I want you
to write a screenplay on the Shining.
While I was paid he did
not produce it. Update to 2019. I dust it
off and get ready to rewrite it on the computer. Seven month later it is ready. It has a hotel
and a small town in the mountains. It
has a really bad demon who controls some really hungry gargoyles. It has a town full of metaphysical minded
people. And it is a horror script.

Seven Golden Candlesticks
The Bible, the book of Revelations. As a teenager I went to Sunday
school and once a year the pastor gave a sermon on revelations, usually on New
Year's eve before the Rose Parade. He used a lot of charts which I studied
carefully and I wondered if I could translate this into a movie. My title
became Seven Golden Candlesticks, based on the seven churches of the first
century. Many of the prophecies I found
confusing such as the bear of the North, the lion and her colony and the Eagle;
these things and not even come about yet, they would be centuries away. So the
idea became simple, quite like turning it into A B-movie script. My hero would
be a rebel who got left behind after the rapture and is now fighting evil. The
villain would be a general who commands all of forces in the UN. He would be
big brother or the antichrist, the dictator of the world government. The
opening scene is a beach party with the UN soldiers having a good time. The
rebels sneak up on them and after some speechifying, massacre them. From our
point it becomes a running battle between the good guy and the bad guy until we
get to the final battle.
